About Dr. Holly Schaff

I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist and have been fortunate to work in a variety of settings in the past twenty-five years with children, adolescents and adults. I have enjoyed working in non-profit agencies, schools and colleges, residential facilities, mental health clinics and home-based programs.

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of New Hampshire, a Master’s Degree in Systemic Family Therapy from Birkbeck College and the Institute of Family Therapy in London, and a doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology (now William James College.)

I have extensive training in psychological assessment, psychodynamic theory, and family systems theory. Together this foundation influences my work in specialty areas such as identity development, emerging adulthood, attachment, trauma, behavior difficulties, parenting, divorce and blended families.

I was a first-generation college student and have a special interest in working with emerging adults as they try to discover their own unique pathway to independence.

Emerging adulthood is a complex and challenging stage of development for young people and their parents, and it is an area of work that I am particularly passionate about. In addition to seeing emerging adults for individual therapy, I provide assessment and parent consultations.

I also very much enjoy writing and speaking to groups of parents and other mental health providers about emerging adulthood.

If you have a son/daughter age 18 years to 30 years, and would like to contribute to my book research, I would love your input.

In addition to my full-time private practice work, I am an adjunct faculty member at Springfield College where I have the privilege of teaching students who are earning their doctorate in Counseling Psychology.
