Therapy

I pride myself on providing exceptional care in a welcoming and compassionate environment.

My style is down to earth and I approach therapy as a partnership and a unique process that helps people learn about themselves, build resources and get unstuck.

Therapy is a personal decision and a personal process. No two people go about it in the same way, or for the exact same reasons – and so my approach to the work, and the pace of the work, is different for each person, carefully customized to meet the individual where he/she is at.

I have over 25 years of clinical experience providing therapy. My approach is grounded in psychological theory and research, evidence-based practices, and a commitment to continuing education. The kind of work I do is not simply characterized by techniques; it is much more than that.

I see therapy as an invitation for self-knowledge and I privilege questions like:

  • What keeps us stuck even though we desperately want things to be different?
  • How do we recognize our legitimate needs and find healthier ways to get them met?
  • What drives our behavior?
  • How can we reduce distress and feel better?
  • What’s getting in the way of satisfying relationships?
  • What are the best ways to support healing, growth, and creativity?
  • How and why do we get in our own way?

Therapy is offered for people ages thirteen years and up. The length of therapy appointments can be individualized, but typically appointments are 55 mins long.

I work with individuals, couples and families and can assist with things related to:

  • Relationships
  • Depression and Anxiety
  • Trauma
  • Identity
  • Life stage transitions and personal growth
  • Loss and Grief
  • Adolescent and Young Adult Difficulties
  • Divorce, Coparenting, Stepparenting

Effective therapy is rooted in the intersection points of science and art. Exceptional therapists weave together a sophisticated understanding of psychological theory, neuroscience, relationships, human development and societal factors– AND they do this without losing sight of the unique person in the room. I work hard to achieve this, and to create the optimal balance of support and challenge that leads to change

Please do not hesitate to email or call with any questions or to talk through how therapy would be helpful in your circumstances.
